چکیده

In this work we consider a nite element approach to solving the coupled Navier Stokes (NS) and Fokker Planck (FP) multiscale model that describes the dynamics of dilute polymeric uids. Deterministic approaches such as ours have not received much attention in the literature because they present a formidable computational challenge due to the fact that the analytical solution of the Fokker Planck equation may be a function of a large number of independent variables. For instance, to simulate a 3-dimensional ow using the dumbbell model for polymers one must solve the coupled NS FP system in which the Fokker Planck equation is posed in a 6-dimensional domain. First we discuss the physical and mathematical foundations of the NS FP model, then we develop our deterministic nite element based approach in detail. Numerical results, obtained using parallel computation, are presented to demonstrate the e cacy of our approach.

Numerical Simulation of Doi Model of Polymeric Fluids

We study the Doi model for shear flow. The finite element method on sphere is developed, the basis function is carefully chosen to guarantee the conservation of distribution function. The numerical results presented confirm the main conclusion. The viscosity jump is observed during the flow induced phase transition.

Simulation and Experimental Study of Vibration and Noise of Pure Electric Bus Transmission based on Finite Element and Boundary Element Methods

Since the electric motor of pure electric vehicle replaced the engine, the "masking effect" disappears, and the problem of vibration and noise of the transmission becomes prominent. This is generated during the gear meshing and is transmitted to the housing through the shaft and bearing. Thereby, radiation noise of the housing are generated. The prediction and analysis...

Vibration Analysis of Circular Single-Layer Graphene Sheet Using Finite Element Method

Graphene sheets are combined of Honeycombs lattice carbon-carbon bonds which have high natural frequencies, high strength, and high conductivity. Due to important applications of the graphene sheets particularly at higher frequencies, the study of their dynamic behavior is important in this frequency range. From Molecular Dynamics (MD) point of view as the dimensions of graphene sheet incline, ...

Mechanistic Modeling of Organic Compounds Separation from Water via Polymeric Membranes

A mathematical model considering mass and momentum transfer was developed for simulation of ethanol dewatering via pervaporation process. The process involves removal of water from a water/ethanol liquid mixture using a dense polymeric membrane. The model domain was divided into two compartments including feed and membrane. For a description of water transport in ...
